After reading catcher in the rye. i found out that this book got banned .why?
well The Catcher in the Rye was banned because of some of the events and themes in the novel. When it came out in 1951 things like sex weren't publicly talked about and displayed like they are today. The language used in the book was also another big reason the book was banned in schools. Also Holden's obvious rebellion to the adult world also worried some people that it would inspire teens to rebel. But the main reason it was banned was because of the language and sexual themes in the book.
It is banned almost completely for the unnecessary language and sexual themes in the book. I think Salinger wanted it that way because people who would be closed-minded enough to not read it because of silly things like that, wouldn't understand the message of the book in the first place.
anyways my final thought is Holden Caulfield was a bad role model.
